Q: What are Sale Gowns?

A: These are gowns that have been tried on in our shop but never worn down the aisle or altered. Because we take on between 40-60 new gowns each year (after we attend bridal market), we have to clear out older styles that have not sold to make physical room for the new ones.

Q: What are the stipulations of a sale gown?

A: These gowns are sold “as-is” (the size, color and condition they are in). Some are in better shape than others, and are priced accordingly. Generally our sale gowns are discounted by between 30-70%. Sale gowns are not eligible for free steaming or storage services through Lily Saratoga. They are paid-in full and taken home the day of the sale. If you would like to have it cleaned, we have recommendations for local dry-cleaners.

Q: How do I know if I am a good candidate for a sale gown?

A: If you are a bride working on a tight-time frame (i.e. shopping with less than 6 months before your wedding), you would be a great candidate so you can take the gown home with you and start alterations right away. Brides with stricter budgets are also good candidates, as these gowns are discounted by 30-70% - Please be sure to include alterations in your budget - see below!!

Q: Will I need alterations?

A: You will likely need AT LEAST a hem and a bustle. In general, most brides in our region wind up spending between $400-$1000 in alterations, which include modifications to the bodice & straps, a hem & bustle. Alterations are generally more expensive on long-sleeved dresses and gowns with beading. You may also wind up paying more for a sample that needs to be taken down by more than one size, so be sure to discuss this with your consultant.
